3 Top Tips for Buying an Airsoft Sniper Rifle

A lot of airsoft players (both beginners and experienced veterans) will at some point consider purchasing a new airsoft sniper rifle and taking up the position on their team. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of information available to guide new snipers in choosing their new airsoft gun. Here area few tips that should set you on the right path:

1) Budget Properly - airsoft is a great sport because it can be relatively cheap to get started. Airsoft guns can be hand for $30 or less, but if you are used to buying these bare-bones, entry level guns then you are going to have to plan to invest a little bit more when buying an airsoft sniper rifle. Most of the better airsoft rifles that you see snipers using on the field are going to range from $70 for a basic gun without a scope, to over $1400 for a full-blown RAP4 MilSim setup. Great airsoft guns from manufacturers such as UHC, TSD, and Cybergun can be had in the $150 - $185 price range, and most of these mid-range airsoft sniper rifles are easily modified to increase both distance and accuracy.

2) Get a Scope - a lot of sniper rifles are available without scopes, but this is not because they are designed to be used this way, but because many players want to choose their own scope to match to their gun. If you are choosing your first airsoft sniper rifle, then it's probably best to purchase a combo kit that comes complete with a scope. It's usually only $30 more than the gun itself and you can't get the true sniper experience without one, so save some extra cash and make sure you get your scope along with your gun.

3) Shop Online - most online airsoft sites will not be charging sales tax because, for the most part, they are not required to do so except to customers that reside in their own state. Most states have a 5-6% sales tax, so by simply purchasing your gun online it's like getting a 6% discount. Also, because online airsoft sniper rifle shops have less overhead than a brick-and-mortar sporting goods store, airsoft guns at their sites are often priced less which usually can wash out the extra cost of shipping that is involved when buying online.
